The name TNT (Thomas Nationwide Transport) has indeed been split up, they used to have a stake in Union Bulkships/Union Steamships and even Ansett Airlines.
Their parcel post was competing heavily with DHL.
TNT parcel post was sold to Dutch KPN (earlier called PTT) and in Holland the KPN Group changed their name to TNT Post whilst hardly anybody knows the meaning behind all that.
TNT used to be the largest transport company in OZ, but that status is now enjoyed by Toll.
TNT used to have their own bi-coloured shipping containers in light orange and cream; all this is gone.
At one stage they also got a bit involved with ABC Line of Belgium/Holland, T. Rosenfeldt, and had ships with TNT names roaming the world.
The above just a bit of trivia for what it is worth.
There are more threads with info about this Group elsewhere in SN.
