Built 1951 for British Railways.
1981 sold and renamed Prince Ivanhoe.
3/8/1981 ran aground and sank, later burnt out.

We didn't actually want her removed, Shamrock, but she was deteriorating so much that I think adverse local opinion and the local councils forced the owners into tidying her up. She was part of the Newhaven 'furniture' for so long that it was almost a suprise to see her go.

Removing any old ship is sad....another golden oldie met her end on the 24th July, Regal Empress, beached in a very undignified way at Alang. I know we can't keep them all, but just seems that history is too easy to discard sometimes :(

The owners of waverley should have stepped in to save brading or southsea. Didn't they charter the southsea when waverley had problems with boiler tubes.

Some ships just look right, under way. I hate viewing photos of derelict ships and quickly move on!
