I think this is Walsh bay if my memery is still with me .We used to tie up here on the Abel Tasman ..#4 they were known as the finger wharfs .(Thumb)

Once shore side worked on most of the early Karlander ships in Sydney then working for Hall Thermotank, started late 1972 so I would have worked on this one.
Best of two worlds, still involved with the shipping scene but going home each night to a new wife.
Think you will find it is Pyrmont portholepaul.

Yep, just up the road and all down hill on the way back.
Back in those days individual service vans were unheard of and all us "mechanics" were dropped off at each job in a large truck with a crew cab on the back. The driver always informed us to be at the foot of the gangway no later than 3.00pm for pick-up. After pick-up we decamped to the Palasade Hotel for a quick half dozen schooners before arriving back at the workshop on time for clock-off.
