Galileo Galilei or Guglielmo Marconi of Lloyd Triestino is the passenger liner on left. Ellerman in the middle. Yugoslavian Jadrolinija on right maybe. Picture must be after 1962 as L.T liners did maiden voyages in Feb 1963 and Nov.1963 . Going by all the flags flying this could be maiden voyage of one of them.

Thank you dave beaumont. Of course, it's Guglielmo Marconi on the left. Silly of me! I took this the same day in 1963 as the one I posted of her on her maiden voyage. My memory needs a lot of jogging these days. Jadrolinija would fit with what one can see of the name painted on the ship's side. Now, how about those two tugs?

Apart from them being owned by local trading and coaling company Luke Thomas & Co Ltd, no ID on the tugs yet.

I was joking about the tugs, davidships. Had twigged the whole foreground setup belonged to Luke Thomas. Can't quite make out what it says on that sign after 'Luke Thomas & Co Ltd'. Could it be 'Lighter Post'?

Maybe it says 'bunker - or maybe 'water barge'? Thats what she looks like...for bunkering or watering the tugs etc.

Blowing up my scan of the original slide, I think it may say Water Post or Water Boat. Would that make sense?

Yep, I would go for water boat as it looks like a small barge to me. I imagine they would have had a trade in lightering water out to the ships.
