The ferry Skagerak sank in the North Sea near the Danish coast at Hirtshals and Lønstrup under extreme weather conditions caused by cyclone Faith in the Atlantic Ocean.

The rescue mission with ships and Sikorsky helicopters was extremely difficult but successful. Everyone was saved from the sinking ferry. A Norwegian passenger lost his life. This happened on land, some hours after he had been rescued, due to a heart condition.

Regards.
