The "Snow" and "Winter" class of reefers both good looking ships. From Funnel looks as if Universal Reefers have re-incarnated themselves, is there still a South African connection with them or still operated from Montvale N.J. - seem to remembe the U/R ship operator was a Ms Kirsty Prochelle??

Richard, would you be the ex third mate on Elbe Ore? The Snow class were lovely looking ships, I remember being on the pride of Cayzer's Clan R class reefers in Cape Town when one came in, put us in our place!

Hi Brian, Thanks yours, yup joined Elbe Ore as 3/Off in Rotterdam March '75 and paid off as 2/Off in July '75, in Port Glasgow just before she went to layup in Loch Striven re-named as King Richard, latterly Basil Biggs in Command, seem to remember "Jelly Tot" was C/Eng. She seemed to be a rather large vessel compared to "Clan/Bowater" but was start of my career on bulkers till I went back on the reefers, which has been my favoured type of ship for last 30-odd years

Sorry late response - have been away in S/Lanka for 3 weeks enjoying some sunshine and AI hospitality, only saw a few distant box boats from hotel/beach - bliss!
B.Regards, Richard K.
