built: Lithgows-Glasgow, 1968, 21000 tdw, 15,5 knots
79 Sounion, 90 Med Vitoria, 93 broken up at Gadani beach.
So the pic has to be between 79 and 90, no clue as to where.
Sistership: Sugar Producer, 80 Cape Avanti - 86 Delta Port Said, scrapped 87, Kaohsiung

The Sounion was involved in a collision with the Norwegian owned bulk carrier " Feddy" in a position 35.55N, 03.05E off Algiers on 10/02/1981.

This is the only collision I can find that she was involved in.

AAAAAAHHHH, I just looked in Ron's gallery & all the details are already there on another photo !

In that case , if this is at Lisbon, we are looking West & thats the Belem Tower in the distance ..!

How's it going Ivor-just came up on spec looking at Crystal-good to see ure still in the land of the living.Senior Sparks was George Cracknell from Hessle on Humberside,he was honorary commodore/sparks with SugarLine.If I remember a Mike (Keenan,I think) was the other cadet on board-Rgds janderso

There was an earlier Sugar Crystal because Athenic took an injured seaman from her in 1961. AB fell off the mast and came across in a lifeboat in a heavy swell mid-Atlantic. Our doctor saved him and he made it back to UK despite multiple injuries. As a cadet I had to to the evening 8-12 in sick bay to keep an eye in him
