This is the old Spurn Haven, the present vessel - Spurn Haven 2 has been working the mono buoy for a number of years now, she's a slightly larger and modern version of the old one, I would guess Steve has a photo of her some where.
I don't think I have a photo of the latest ship, and with a total ban by ABP on photography, I don't think I will be able to take one, unless she calls in the fish docks where cameras are allowed with a pass.
Glad you mentioned this ban Steve ,i didnt know about that and i work for them !!!,by the way ABP have brought out a book on Immingham Dock similar to the one on the Royal Dock ,Grimsby. Its out now i believe and available from the dock offices at Grimsby.
I worked for them for 18 years, but every pass was cancelled under the anti-terrorism laws......like they didn't know who I am!.Why not issue permits with ID inc photo's? A few photographers could be extra eyes as is what is begining to happen at airports. Saw point!
Your point is well made Steve ,the more eyes looking is better than none which the present ABP security ,shall we say it is a joke !!!!!
Dont wont to get political but they are a laugh at the best of times, bring back the original dock police i remember them with great affection.
My old man lived and breathed on the Royal Dock and he allways said there wasnt a bunch of better blokes.
Built 1966 as Lady Edwina by J.Lewis and Sons Ltd.,Aberdeen.262 gross,87 net and 105 feet length.Possibly the smallest supply ship to operate in the North Sea.Remember ex trawler skipper Billy"Blackeye"Soanes being in command.
