ST.MARIE

Atlantis Shipping Company's 1954 J.L.Thompson, Sunderland, built ST.MARIE, the former ST.JOHN of South American Saint Line and still registered at Newport (Mon.), is seen passing Portishead, inbound for Avonmout, on 3rd August 1966. She had sailed from Liverpool on 31st March to New Zealand and was returning to Avonmouth with a cargo of grain.

Chris Isaac on a thread here on S.N. reckoned for ships built in the early 1950's they had the most beautiful lines and who's to disagree.
I think some of the later Port Line vessels came near to them.

I think the original two were built around 1948? They were certainly nice lookers. J L Thompson produced some forward looking designs around that time.
