Its looks like a liberty, not many of them were left in 1972, and when I can see it right, she still has AA mountings on both sides of the bridge.

That is the Liberty ship JOHN W. BROWN, which served as a maritime high school in New York from 1946 to 1982. She is still preserved and operational today, based in Baltimore.

Holland America Line STATENDAM (1957) alongside the former Holland America Line Pier 40 situated in lower Manhattan.

Pier 40 closed in 1974 and Holland America Line moved upriver to join the other liners at the newly reconstructed Piers 86/91 at the New York Passenger Ship Terminal.

The Liberty ship JOHN.W.BROWN is seen at Pier 45.
