Besides being quite a stunning and effective photograph, tridentport, there is a lot of detail to interest we technical types besides that enormous bulbous bow.

Thanks Vesticol. I'd certainly be interested in learning the reason for that huge bulbous bow.

Not being a sea going type not only the bow intigues me but the way the anchors are stowed, another foot or two and they would be on deck. Is this not a tad unusual or have I not been looking hard enough. Is the reason perhaps connected to the bulbous bow, ie to avoid crashing into it when letting go ?

Crawford,
Concordia Maritime's site might provide some clues - http://www.concordia-maritime.se/Fleet--Market/The-MAX-concept/
Check out the tab "P-MAX - A virtual tour."

Not been unknown for a slip up in the DO and when dropping the anchor it hit the bulbous bow, a well known and respected Clyde shipyard suffered such an indignity, no names!

It is a sad day when you learn nothing new. That link has a weeks learning in it.
A picture is worth a thousand words definately comes to mind.
