Stockfish anyone?

Full rigged ship Grace Harwar running past The Horn. The cook with part of todays dinner on his way from the larder to the galley. Carrying in his right hand what was a staple diet on Scandinavian ships.

It's a picture that rinses the nose of city stench. Here you smell nothing but Stockholm Tar a

Interesting photo Stein,
On most of the Norwegian ships that I was onboard in the 1960/70's, we usually got dried cod once a week.

When I was onboard the M/S "Estrella" in 1973 we used to take a few hundred tons of dried cod (cargo) from Norway down to Brazil, they loved it down there.

Cheers Frank

Thanks both of you, I like the picture too, and I loved a dish we had at sea which we called "Bacchalao" (Which I understand is Spanish for cod). It consisted of stockfish baked with tomatoes. I've never tasted it since I hired off for the last time, but I've spoken with several other Norwegians who spent some time at sea and miss that dish. Stein
