The photo above is actually the STOCKHOLM (II), taken shortly before her launch in May, 1938; she burned at the yard in December of that year. Note the major differences here compared to the replacement ship, mainly in the bridge structure, the porthole/window arrangements, and the foredeck railings and bulwarks.
This Stockholm Das Imperator refere to was built in 1941. The Stockholm that sank Andrea Doria was built in 1948 and still around today and is named Athenia. She does not look like anything what she did when she was new.
Yes, Ulf, the STOCKHOLM which is still afloat was actually the 4th STOCKHOLM, a very different vessel--we are discussing the differences between the STOCKHOLM of '38 and the STOCKHOLM of '41.
