Taken during one of my first trips in Oronsay around 1968. I recall there was a footbridge over the road from which this was taken. The market on the left was the usual souvenier thing and I bought a nice wooden table which I still have to this day!
Catalina Star 1963:
Remember a local guy that came aboard with a note in his shirt pocket - he had no arms. The note said he had lost an arm to a shark when diving for coins in Suva harbour thrown from passenger ships. When stump healed he returned to diving only to lose the other to another shark. Well, that's what the bit of paper said!
Also, our senior cadet, Nigel Cluney, was from Fiji. His father was head of health for the islands I think.
