Swan Hunter shipyard at Wallsend on Tyne now closed and equipment sold to an Indian Shipyard this view shows the Swans iconic cranes over the floating building dock containing the RFA Largs Bay.

Crazy, as an Island Nation, we do not have a couple of modern merchant shipbuilding yards like the French, German and Scandinavian Countries - They have high wages too but still manageto build merchant ships and cruise liners too!

Waiwera - Good question and should be illuminated in Downing Street as it was those in power that sold our shipbuilders down the 'Swany' at the behest of those bureaucrats in Brussels.

Thanks to William D/James C/Waiwera/Stumps for your apt comments/yes it was Lyme Bay that was transfered to Govan for finishing off. Largs Bay was floated out of the dock in July 2004 named in August 2004 accepted into service Oct.2004. regards REG.M.
