Good impression of speed but at nearly 50 knots and an open bridge in the days when a duffle coat was the best gear you could get it must have been an endurance test over any distance.
Steve do your figures mean she was carrying almost six tons of petrol ? !!

Thats a figure I came across, but it seems a little low to me, to those of us with a 2 ltre petrol engine under the bonnet putting 70 ltrs of petrol in seems plenty, now think of not one but two Isotta Franchini petrol engines, the W18 (V18) had a cylinder displacement of a mere 57 ltrs so each cylinder was about 2.5 times the total volume of an average car engine, add to this the general inefficiency of those older engines and 6 tons of petrol wont get you very far which is why I think it might be as high as nine tons / 10500 ltrs.
I have never found the consumption of a IF W18 but I doubt you will get much change out of 220 GPH each
