[COLOR="Navy"]'Just one look' is the expression and that's all it took to transport me back to September '57 and joining a 13 year old ~ built for one wartime voyage under the name 'Bridgeland Park' ~ cargo ship named 'Cambray'. The picture is one of 'my ship's' numerous sisters and instantly recognisable as such.

It was New Years Eve 1966 and we tied up alongside one of this class of ships in Karachi. She was on her last voyage and upon completion of discharge was bound for scrap. To celebrate her long life, she blew her steam whistle ALL night long. It wasn't appreciated by our crew.

[COLOR="Navy"]Hi Sam.

She was indeed called 'Cambray' ~ my original post refers.

I sailed on 'Cabano', 'Cargill' and 'Chandler', also, during my apprenticeship in the late '50s and very early '60s.
The 'C' word was prevalent, as you can sea, when in seize on you go down to the see.

[COLOR="Navy"]Thanks for the laugh, Les and I don't mind being shouted at SAM, 'COS I'S BEEN WED 50+ YEARS AND IT'S PAR FOR THE COURSE. OK, enough shouting and here's your pic. A tongue in cheek comment on same. I happen to know that you've seen this picture before AND that you worked on her in Hull, a fact that you discussed with the late lamented Stan, on this site, on 11th August 2010.
