I believe that the "Poolta" on the rhs of the pic, is tied up at the CSR companies Pyrmont refinery wharf, and if memory serves me right, I think the Brown Structure behind is where the raw sugar was stored after unloading from their ships, Rona and Fiona, I think they were named.
All the CSR works have gone and the area is a mix of high-end flats and commercial office space. Fortunately, a great deal of open (public) space has been created along the waterfront.
These areas have become very valuable real estate all around the world, who developed this one, Meriton ?
So if I get it right the area is the western side of Pyrmont on Johnstons Bay and where the trucks and rail wagons are must be Darling Harbour Goods Rail Yard.
I spent a lot of time in there on regular occasions waiting to get pesticides unloaded of a Flick truck to freight them to the bush to help make the areas habital .
This would have to be taken from Glebe Island looking east across to Pyrmont with the Poolta at CSR and the "unknown" at 23 pyrmont which housed the temporary NSW Waterpolice site
To Tom - the silver hawk was it rego'd in London and i think there might have been one other? on the sugar run that were replaced with the Ormiston and Kuwulka?
