Watched her being launched directly into the sea from Bartrams and took a great interest in her being fitted out on the Wear, along with Tekoa and Tongariro still among my favourite Sunderland built ships, striking colour scheme and design.

Yes, mate. Predominately on the UK / Oz and Kiwi routes. Some variations to South America and latterly the Persian Gulf.

They were good looking ships, expecially in NZS livery. Sulzer RD90 main engines with English Electric alternators.

Quite fast too. Junior Eng accommodation was not too flash though, lower alleyway and right adjacent to the main ER enterance.
