Hi Dick
I wish I had a £ for every time I was aboard Dad's tug Marty or Impetus and towed her clear for sailing every Saturday at 4.30 from the Tyne Commisssioners Quay.
Funny how pictures bring baack memories and I remember they always played music as she left the Quay.

I'm sure that I remember seing this ship launched at Thornycrofts, Southampton.
The ropes /chains broke and the ship careered across the River Itchen crashing into the wooden jetty that we were stood on. I didnt have a camera!

In those days she was considered to be almost revolutionary with the streamlined bridge and the mast/funnel structure.

Cheers, Harley.
