The Admiralty pier was extended seawards in the same way as the east arm and south breakwaters were built' on either side of the line of the future wall platforms were mounted on piles to hold the gantry and other cranes' on one of the gantries was mounted a temperary lighthouse which was advanced as the wall was built.
