Thuraka, a three-masted topsail schooner.
Built in 1877 by Blackwood and Gorden Paisley, Port Glasgow as an iron Paddle Tug (Yard. nr. 143) and was named : YATALA
Launched for the Adelaide Steam Tug Co. Ltd., Port Adelaide.
Sold in 1911 to H.J. Bell from ..... ??
In 1912/1913 converted to a topsail schooner.
Was renamed : THURAKA in 1918 (248 BRT)
Wrecked on June 8, 1919 on Actaeon Reef (for Recherche Bay, Tasmania) in tow by the river steamer GUNIDAH
She was then owned by H.G. Gray and F Bond from ....??

Interesting and very clear "atmospheric" photo of an old coastal trader...and I think it appears to be taken as she was sailing from her former home port, Port Adelaide, out into the Gulf of St Vincent, southbound.
