Dick,

This must be Scone of Rochester built 1919. There are a number of hits on the web including this one: http://www.thamesbarge.org.uk/barges/barges/scone.html

No doubt Stan Mayes will have something to say about her if he spots this.

Regards,

Brian

Hello Brian,
I met Stan Mayes only yesterday at an Merchant Navy meeting at Gravesend, and what a smashing man he is, it was at a meeting which is held every last saturday of the month, at the Royal British Legion Club in Gravesend, at 1,oclock, Very nice bunch of people, including Captains, crew, and people who have worked on the Thames, just wish I had more time to talk...

Hello Brian and Dick,
Yes I can have something to say about this image.. It is from a book published in 1936 - Shipping Wonders of the World..My friend SN member Kyrenia has the same book..
Six years ago a painting of this was for sale in Gravesend Central Library..Purported to be an original it was priced £50..
About 15 years ago I saw a similar painting in a local shop - priced £50 but with a decorative frame- so how many 'originals' are there in this area?
Dick's caption has 'photo' - so do you have a photo Dick?

Dick,
It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday after so much contact between us on this wonderful SN site..
I don't think I told you we are an autonomous branch of the Merchant Navy Association and we are members of the Merchant Mariners ..the Chief Executive is Derek Bristow OBE and the President is Captain Ronald Warwick recently retired Master of QUEEN MARY 2.
Thankyou for posting it and I am pleased that you enjoyed your visit..
Our Chairman was Captain Clive Downes retired Master of Shaw Savill Co.
Sadly he has crossed the bar.
Best wishes for Brian and Dick,
Stan.

I have changed the caption to a picture, as photo was a mistake sorry. I phoned my brother Yuge and told him I had met you, he speaks very highly of you as I was.
