Taken in October 1980, the Tillerman lies alongside the jetty in Caernarfon on a Texaco charter from Pembroke.
Brought in on the top of the tide by local pilot John Jones, discharge was carried out on the falling tide and usually completed as the waters drained away....leaving a few hours for a pint up the road!!
It never ceased to amaze how locals and visitors alike would stroll around the quay to watch the discharge of Motor Spirit, Gas Oil and Kero....totally oblivious of any health & safety etc!!
