Tor Hollandia

Many thanks! It's the first time I see a nice photo of "our" Ariadne (here in Greece) in her original form!!!!

She is leaving IJmuiden her on het voyage between Amsterdam and Gotenburg. Made my first ever sea voyage onboard this ship as a passenger. Liked it so much taht it resulted in 32 years at sea. Both ships (Tor Hollandia and Tor Anglia) are still around, over 40 years old and still going strong.

In the pre-EC times, she used to bring Dutch folk over to buy cheap groceries! Those were the days.

It may just be a trick of the light but this looks very much like a monochrome rendering of a painting.
The style looks very familiar. Especially the way the left hand background appears to bear no relationship to the right hand background.
