TSS KING GEORGE V

Built 1926 for Caledonian MacBrayne by William Denny & Bros of Dumbarton. Gutted by fire at Cardiff in early 80's whilst being converted to floating pub/restaurant for Bass Charrington. Beyond repair she was broken up at Cardiff.

KG5 was built for David MacBrayne. Caledonian MacBrayne did not exist until 1972 - 73 when The Caledonian Steam Packet Co. merged with the said David MacBrayne.

First time I've seen this photo and, as above, what a state!

I hate to be a Clyde Steamer anorak, but King George V was not built for MacBrayne, but for Williamson-Buchanan Steamers Limited in 1926, and she was sold to David MacBrayne on 3 October 1935.

Indeed.She was QUEEN MARY later QUEEN MARY II/s running mate.A sad end for her too,on the Thames.
