George Anson and Francis Drake built 1947/8 as Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. 7743 tons 150 passengers. Sailed for Dominion Far East Line 1962 on 63 day round trip from Melbourne to Japan. Withdrawn 1971.

By any account I ever heard they were comfortable ships, visited the Anson once but have no real memories of her now...more Senior moments!!.

SHE WAS A SMALL VESSEL BUT HAD SOME CHARACTER. I WAS ON HER LAST
VOYAGE FROM MELBOURNE TO SYDNEY. SHE DEPARTED AROUND 4:30PM TO
THE WHISTLES AND HORNS FROM TUGS AND OTHER NEARBY SHIPS.
I REMEMBER SHE ROLLED QUITE CONSIDERABLY DURING THE PASSAGE IN BASS STRAIT.I BELIEVE SHE WAS ON HER WAY TO THE BREAKERS IN HONG KONG.
