Jaigee,

Are those the old Clan Line sheds in the background? This would put her approx by the Duke St. bridge? In another photo, it looks like the North End. Where is she now, on the Bhead or Wallasey side. Please see my other posting re. conning tower.

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,

They are indeed the old Clan Line sheds. She has in fact only been moved a hundred yards or so eastwards from her old site, i.e. nearer to the Tower Road bridge, on the Wallasey side.

If you look at this photograph you can see the warehouses in the background that the histoic warships were formerly alongside: http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/51685/cat/500/ppuser/5363

I did indeed read your post regarding your involvement re: the machining of the brass plate, what actually was the plates purpose/position on the conning tower?

Regards,

Jeff

The Laird Foundation apprentices constructed steps and disabled access up to the main deck and, as mentioned earlier, rebuilt the conning tower that had rusted away. This was recorded on the brass plates. This was way back in about 2000 when I was contracted to give a CAD/CAM course.

I can of course now place the U-Boot and, as I had originally surmised, that may be the "Burning Stump" in one of the other photos!

Thx and Rgds.

Dave
