The Ulster Star at Lyttelton early in her career when she had the purple hull that was inflicted on some of the Blue Star ships between the original black and later grey. Deck crowd painting the funnel. In the latter part of her life i believe she ran with the four "A" boats on the River Plate run.

A popular tale when I was with Blue Star was that when Lord Vestey inspected her being fitted out in the yard and saw the washbasins fitted in the junior officers cabins he had a bit of a hissy fit and ordered them removed as in his alleged words "they will only p--- in them"
