The first to bear this name within the Blue Star fleet.
No real sister ships, she was especially built and designed for the South American meat trade.
Like the Queensland Star and the Rockhampton Star she had a very long fore-castle incorporating both her number one and two holds.
She left the South American trade for a trip out to New Zealand via Fiji in 1962.
It was always a pleasure to see the Blue Star ships at Newhaven in its heyday. However Ulster Star is looking a bit battle-weary in this photo. You could normally rely on the 'stars' to cut quite a dash, not only with their elegant lines but also their smart paintwork.
