Rory,

The bridge between Camden, NJ and Philadelphia, PA was originally the Delaware River Bridge when opened in 1926. It was some time in the 1950's that it was changed to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. The Delaware Memorial Bridge is further down river, connecting Pennsville, NJ to New Castle, Delaware. It was out-dated when it opened and an identical bridge was soon built alongside the original span.

Best regards,

I remember in Philadelphia travelling on a tram that used to run outside the dock gates, was a single track afair and must have run on a huge loop though the city, great for setting back to the ship, but you had to have the correct change. This was during the 1960's.

Tom,

That would be the old PTC (Philadelphia Transportation Co.) trolley. I believe they did operate on a loop, but I'm not sure. Those were replaced with "trackless tollies", looked like a regular passenger bus, but powered by overhead wires.

Regards,

Dave Boone
