Unknown = CITY OF HONGKONG (1924-1951).

From a bundle of snapshots taken by some intrepid tourist between 1927-29. This one says on back: 'An Italian ship at Naples, 26/2/28.'

Thanks CVB, hoped it was Ellerman, but was led astray by info on back of photo.
City of HongKong
Built: 1924 Earle's SB&E, Hull
Tonnage: 9,606grt
Owners: Ellerman's City Line
1951: Sold to Fratelli Grimaldi Armatori, Genoa, r/n Centauro
1955: Feb: En route Naples-Hampton Roads, called at Bermuda to refuel. In a storm she lost both anchors and went aground. Refloated by 2 tugs and towed by Foundation Francis to Hampton Roads for repairs, then to lay up in Genoa.
Broken up at Savona.

Tonga, I wonder if she should rather be in Passenger ships category--she carried 104 in 1st class.
Cheers, Brent
