A tanker, I think taken in Rotterdam in the 1960's but that is all I know

The Norwegian tanker, Ronastar - of Einar Saanum's Rederi. Built 1957 in Eriksberg's Varv, Gothenburg, Sweden.
In 1965, while undergoing tank cleaning in Botlek, Rotterdam, this tanker suffered a massive explosion amidship, resulting in the death and injuries to a very
high number of tank cleaners.
The Ronastar was later recostructed as a dry cargo ship.

Sad that so many people lost their lives. When I first saw the pic I thought what happened to the other ship but with an explosion you dont need another vessel

Thanks Astra for a complete answer. I had often wondered. Sad to know so many lost their lives doing a job only a few minutes before they had no idea what was about to happen. There but for the grace of God so many others might be in a similar situation.
