Unknown ship Spitzbergen = Atlas ex Ryndam

Hi ,She was the ATLAS of Epirotiki ST.built as RYNDAM 1951 and rebuilt 1972.

The old Holland America liner Ryndam after her conversion into the cruise ship Atlas. In my view the conversion turned a lady into a tart.

Thanks for that Gp and Fred. I have turned the slide round and made the photo a little brighter.

Do any of recognize which port it is, I am sure that it is around Spitzbergen.

Certainly looks like Sptzbergen. Could well be Ny Alsund. Whilst having been there in June this year and went ashore here, it was certainly a mining area. The old train is still there that used to haul the coal from the mines. Ny Alsund is now the location of the Norsk Polar Institute. It is also the most northerly perminently inhabited place on earth. 600 mile from the north pole. Well worth a visit if you haven't been.
