The former USS FORRESTAL under tow, approaching the Chester, PA waterfront on the Delaware River at 07:30 this morning. The ship is bound for Brownsville, Texas, for demolition. The lead towing tug is the Seattle-based LAUREN FOSS.
USS Forrestal was commissioned in 1955 and decommissioned and struck from the Naval registry in 1993 which gave her 38 years service, since 1993 she has been used for spares, was also going to be used as a museum and an artificial reef, now she has gone to scrap.
The US carriers are the best. US ships also survive from accidents as below. USS Forrestal is testimony to the US engineers who built her - other navies would not have been able to repair their ships after a major incident.
