I think that this picture was taken before 1966, because all Gearing had chaged the air search radar after 1966 either to an AN/SPS-29 or to an AN/SPS-40. Here this destroyer appears with an AN/SPS-6.
Also at position B appears something lika a K-gun, an antisubmarine rocket launcher. This weapon system was deleted from service in the US Navy in the middle of the sixties years.

As I have already stated the picture is no earlier than late 1969.
I know this because I had my first car, a Standard Vanguard Mk3 Vignale estate, passed my driving test and I had been on my first drive trip around France that year and this was taken in the early winter of that year.
Some of the crew appeared to have been called up to serve in the USN as they were the most indisaplined set of sailors I have ever set eyes on, much to the dismay of the officers and senior rates.
