The battle ship is Vanguard and one of the Aircraft Carriers was Indomitable
Vanguard was Flagship to th CinC Admiral Creasy

Portland never looked better! I wish I had seen that sort of collection of ships when I lived nearby!

I use to hate walking the Boom even though it had a "flat" section on the top. Barring for her 5.25's her close range weapon's were removed before she became Senior Officer's Reserve Ships Flagship on Z moorings at Pompey

Just had to have a copy Tim, I hope that's Ok. Those were the days. Portland will be Resurgent again!.

Pink gins under the stern awning of the Vanguard no doubt while jack sank his tot on the mess deck below decks.Went on the Vanguard as a lad and what impressed me most was the angle of the foredeck you needed climbing boots to walk up it.

My Dad took me to Plymouth Navy Days May 1950 and we went onboard her. She was awesome! That's where the bug bit me - I joined January'51.

I still have the Official Souvenir Programme - Price One Shilling.
