Not my favourite ships the Vietnamese jobs. If you ever have to work onboard for any length of time take your own sandwiches......and a flask of Tea[=D] Think those hatch cover leading edges may need some attention soon.

Hello Frank,
yes, I work at the Kiel canal. I'm not a pilot. My employer is the "Verein der Kanalsteurer, Kiel"/ Helmsmens Assosiation of Kiel canal. Please have a look at this link: http://www.kanalsteurer.de/verein/index_en.html

Arne,

thanks for the interesting link.

I first sailed through the Kanal in 1967 while I was onboard the M/S Else Reith (Orion Schiffahrts Ges), I was onboard for about 11 months and we did a few transits.

Hello Frank,
sometimes, not so often, some vessels of ORION Schiffahrt can be seen in Kiel canal. Today, the company called themselves ORION BULKERS.
