VIRGINIAN COAST

Built by Henderson’s, Glasgow for R. Hughes and Co. and launched as Dennis Rose on 14 October 1930
She was sold to Tyne-Tees Steam Shipping in 1947 and renamed Virginian Coast, as shown in this photograph.
In 1953 she was purchased by Urain and Zatica who traded her as Julian Presa until broken up at Briton Ferry beginning 3 January 1958.

Typical of a fully loaded steam coaster, many of them had little freeboard with the forward well deck regularly awash!
