This is a photo, of the big russian wood ships that used to sail right up the river yare in the 1970's. This pic was taken whilst the vessel was berthed alongside the old Jewsons wood yard, around 1978.

Hi Mark, when you say right up the river Yare do you mean Norwich ?.If so are you sure that this is where the picture was taken.I only ask because it looks a bit busy and wide for Norwich

Hi Manfred, have now edited ships name to correct title.

Spartan when i say right up the river yare, i was refering to just the port of Gt Yarmouth, and this photo was taken by my dad from haven bridge, which only small river craft such as speed boats or small pleasure vessels go beyond.
And as this ships gt's is around 3x that of the Norfolk lines ferries, that at the time traded out of Gt Yarmouth and whom berthed much further down towards the entrance, this is what i was meaning to say, i hope this is a more clearer desciption of the picture.
