Imagine that after all those years with wharfies who needed a safety harness to go up (not down) the gangway! Prime Minister Howard would call it ingenuity and productivity.

Wasn't "Warden Point" a collier engaged for years in trade between Newcastle, NSW, and Katherine Point in Sydney Harbour? I'm sure I saw her 'dressed' in bunting at Newcastle prior to her first loading sometime in the mid-80s.

No. Warden Point was not a coiller on this coast. After sold to UK (before coming to Australia) she was used as collier there but never on the Australian coast. She mainly carried cement and flyash.

The Wallarah was the self discharger that ran between Newcastle NSW and Catherine Hill Bay and sometimes elsewhere for a special run.

This is not ex Wallarah! This one built as Red Sea in Sweden in about?? 1978. Built as a general cargo / container / breakbulk something. Converted to a Self discharger by QCL Brisbane in the 90's sometime. There was at least three ships built in this class. One of them is Wilson Malo, I think. A third one (The Black Sea or White Sea) still around, but I dont know more info. Like to find out.
