Welington Harbour in Wartime - 10 April 1942, shows vessels berthed along Aotea Quay. The large passenger ship is the U.S.S. WEST POINT formerly AMERICA later in her career becoming AUSTRALIS (CHANDRIS LINE). The hospital ship is U.S.S. Co, MAUNGANUI, the ship second from the left towards the end of the Quay is the GLENORCHY. The ship in the dock is the WESTMORELAND and berthed at the Dock Wharf is the floating crane HIKITIA which still exists as a historical vessel in the port.
