This ferry is either the ex Fiesta or Fantasia/ ex Canterbury from Dover. They were both originally from the Black Sea area and Eastern block built. One of them suffered a serious engineroom fire with a casualty and from this the company Stena and later the P&O/Stena devised and designed the Rapid Response System to Fire and Flooding in the Engine Room and Machinery Spaces.
Well I be blowed sport, I must have missed it when I was sat on Langdon Cliffs the other day. That's the name of the cliffs behind Dover Docks for those not familar with the area.
Perhaps it had broken down again. The other one was was taken into the P&O fleet when it took over the running of Stena and renamed Canterbury.
If you were a bad boy that is where you were sent. Know what I mean nudge nudge?
If my memeory serves me right there were three freight ships built but one of them capsized during loading in a Black Sea port.
They caused a stir when they entered service before the modernisation, they were ugly looking vessels.
