Emmanuel, are you sure with the date?? The grey livery and the life rafts indicate a picture taken in or shortly after WW II!!
Furthermore the ship doesn't look like Ellinis (or Lurline, as she was called until 1963), the three liners of the Mariposa-class all had an enclosed midship superstructure.

kgvm I don't know how this caption ended up under this photo, I think I must have posted the wrong image as that is the Steamer Express vessel RANGATIRA (1931) berthed at Clyde Quay during the early 1940's. The landing craft are part of the US forces that were based in wellington during the War in the Pacific. Thanks for bring this to my attention I will try and sort it out.
