3 sisters, Taupo, Tongariro and Tekoa built by Bartrams, Sunderland, among my favourite ships, design was ahead of their time.

Can someone remind me what those derricks were called, please? I have something like Halten or Hallen in the back of my mind.... Anyone know what was supposed to be their advantage over conventional derricks or cranes?
