Pleased to see the Churchill got a good reception on entry to Portsmouth. Helped by the weather, plenty of people lined the hotwalls to wave the ship in whilst on the Round Tower a bagpiper piped the ship in as if she was one of our own.

Jim I tried zooming in on the flag but couldn't catch the it open. It looked to me like a dragon or a lion, perhaps the Churchill family coat of arms?

Having checked the US Navy website, the red flag appears to feature the Churchill family coat of arms. She also apparently (could that be it on her starboard yard?) is the only US Navy ship to fly the White Ensign alongside the Stars n Stripes. Oh, and she has a Royal Navy officer as part of her crew on a pemanent basis, rotated every 2 - 4 years.
She is also only the 4th American warship to be named after an Englishman.
