Very impressive Rick.I wonder if the Port of Southampton will encourage
them to trade here? Don"t tell me that it has a crew of six?.
A captain,a cook,an engineer a navigator,a radio officer and a bugler...
to keep them all awake.

Alan, I believe they have quite a full crew for this size of ship....25 or so with (!) plenty of accomodation. I will check. Don't hold your breath regarding Southampton - I doubt it somehow.. too many turns in the channel round that big lump of Vectis..(EEK)

Rick,
Do the Engineers live 'midships' on this one? If they do it must be a hell of a run aft and below if the bells go off during the night!

Built 2009 and already obsolete given the state of today's market and the outlook for the foreseeable future.

Jim , all hands live midships. Engineers can make their way to and from the Pit via two internal, under main deck walkways or ditto on deck when the sun is shiining.
Ouch , not quite obsolete yet anthony... several more being introduced by MSC on the Far East - Europe routes in the next 20 months. None going to lay -up yet..... famous last words!

No slow steaming for MSC's giants. I have just checked her on AIS, she is off Ushant doing 24.7 knots with an eta at Felixstowe of 0200 tomorrow morning.

The history of shipping is full of companies that steamed full speed ahead into oblivion.
United States lines springs to mind.

Carlo Aponte is a shrewd operator. I doubt that he, nor MSC, will be in oblivion any time soon.

Impressive photo Rick (Thumb)
