I coasted her in Jan 1963. Carney was Master, only 2 speeds .... STOP and FULL AHEAD. 24 knots across the Channel (R'dam - London) in dense fog.

I was in Hong Kong on the Glenorchy when she entered on her maiden voyage, a fine looking and powerful ship.

Great photo ... I coasted her September/October 1963 - seem to recollect the two speed runs, same Captain Carney. No wonder I'm grey!

She was sold by Cosco in 1995 and scrapped in the Spring of1996.

I know this because we were contacted by Michael Grey on behalf of a group who wanted to preserve her or the GLENFALLOCH (QING HE CHENG) but they were just too late.

Very popular ships in Cosco (with whom they spent most of their working lives!) Taken off the Europe service with containerisation and ended their days on the Straits conventional service
