The "Troubles" is generally taken to apply to the period from 1969 to 1998. Radio Caroline commenced broadcasting in 1964. Though, granted, the whole thing really started about 800 years ago!

I could well believe it. This would have been before the Troubles, and was at the height of the ballad/folk boom, and so would have been viewed as historical rather than incendiary/pro-IRA.
