I was never a shipmate as such, but sailed on Teviot, Inver and Marabank in the mid to late sixties. I am now in NZ where I have been for 40 years. I still remember bank Line with affection, great days, hard work and as you say, canvas hatch covers, deep tanks, bilge diving etc all were part of an apprentices life.
Now an assessor for the Nz earthquake Commission, based in new Plymouth, Taranaki.
Love Edinburgh, originally from Glasgow, but spent most of my childhood in Rothesay where my folks had a hotel. Started my time with Donaldson Line of Glasgow in 1964.
